The Donor Community in Russia: Innovations and Gender Resources (Based on an assessment of the activities of 98 donors)

Russia’s changed political course, increased revenues of large Russian and international corporations, and the decreased support from some of the influential foreign organizations leaving the Russian market and curtailing their activities have made it necessary for the ISGP, which is as a key representative of the women’s movement in Russia, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the donor community in Russia and of the role of women’s and gender issues in its charity projects. To this end, we have studied the activities of 98 donors, of which 58 donors are foreign and international organizations operating in Russia and having their representative offices, and 40 donors are Russian organizations. The sample was comprised only of those organizations, which activities, in our expert opinion, included development projects, i.e. of donors that assisted in solving socially significant problems at the local as well as regional and national levels.
